My treatment approach...
I use an integrative approach, combining complimentary therapies to establish a course of treatment that is tailored meet the individual needs and goals of my clients. I use psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral informed interventions, among others. Incorporating different modalities allows us to understand and address your concerns holistically.
My approach will help you identify patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and gain insight into who you are and how you exist in the world today. This includes looking at early life experiences and understanding how they influenced your development and you now as an adult. In the initial sessions, I will ask about your childhood, family history and relationships. We need to understand how your present day concerns came to be, in order to make the changes you desire.
Types of therapy I use in my practice include psychodynamic, relational, cognitive behavioral (CBT), rational emotive behavior (REBT), family systems, and emotionally focused (EFT). Integrating psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies offers a nice balance of in-depth work and "solution focused" coping strategies.
I believe that everyone has the ability to let go of old patterns that are no longer working and adopt more flexible and fulfilling ways of being. Our sessions will help facilitate emotional, behavioral and relational awareness, and encourage the adoption of new beliefs and behaviors. I have seen my clients go from a place of self-doubt and confusion to one of confidence and clarity through our work together. They feel more connected to themselves and others, with a newfound strength and security to take risks and pursue the life they want.

Experience
Before opening my practice I worked at The Soho Center, a large group practice in the city, counseled young adults at a local college counseling center and worked for a medical center in inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment facilities. Many years of education and experience has brought me to this point and I am grateful to get to work with the clients I do.
